The experienced Doncaster-born 6'1'' custodian began his career as a trainee with Sheffield United in August 1995 before moving to Crystal Palace a year later.
Short loan spells followed at Harrow Borough and Coventry City before he joined Scunthorpe in August 1997 and went on to spend nine seasons with the Iron, making 292 appearances in all competitions including a division three play off final success in 1999 and a League Two promotion in 2004/05.
Billy McEwan signed Evans for York in July 2006 and later that season labelled him "his best signing for the club". Made 96 appearances for York over two seasons before being released towards the end of the 2007/08 campaign by City manager Colin Walker.
Evans was awarded a Northern Ireland 'B' cap in 2003 and also won caps at youth level. Also coaches Scunthorpe Under-13s.
