PAUL CLAYTON

Position: Striker
Date of birth: August 31st, 1984
Joined Alfreton Town: December 31, 2008
A string of superb performances in the 2008/09 season saw 'Clayts' finish top scorer with the Reds with a strike ratio of better than a goal every two games as he finished with 26 goals from 47 appearances, five of which were from the bench.
His all round displays of leading the line and his goalscoring exploits were rewarded with two England C caps.
Joined the Reds on New Year's Eve in 2008 from Blue Square Conference North rivals Gainsborough Trinity and has quickly settled in to produce some terrific displays of front running and finishing.
The Rotherham-based target man began his career at the Barnsley FC Academy where he spent four years. Following release by the Tykes, Paul moved to NCEL outfit Parkgate where he enjoyed a prolific partnership with Brian Cusworth last season before moving to Gainsborough in the summer.
A hard working target man who is good in the air especially but he also has very good control for a big man.
