A former Sheffield United apprentice, Ian was released by the Blades in early November 2008 after loan spells with Boston United, Bury, Notts County and Rotherham United. Joined Blue Square North rivals Gainsborough Trinity from where he moved on to the Reds in late March, 2009.
A busy, classy midfield player with a very good range of passing and an eye for goal which brought three goals in his first six outings. He quickly settled in at the Impact Arena and had a significant input into Alfreton’s successful bid to reach the play offs and a highest ever finish of third in Blue Square North.

Penned a new one year contract in July 2009.
