Alfreton Town's FA Cup hopes perished with a 3-1 first round defeat at Wrexham on Saturday.
The Reds arrived late for the game after being held up in traffic on the M6 and after the kick-off was delayed 20 minutes, they struggled to get going.
Andy Bishop headed the hosts in front on 24 minutes and added a second on 49.
Jake Speight gave the Reds hope when he reduced the arrears from the penalty spot on 61 minutes after Job Ayo Akinde had been brought down.
However, a Jay Harris volley on 72 minutes ensured Wrexham's win, a place in the second round and the £18,000 prize money.
Alfreton had 150 fans in a crowd of 2,415 and Josh Law was named as the Reds' man of the match.
The Reds are back in Skrill Premier action on Tuesday evening when they travel to take on a Tamworth side buoyed by a 1-0 home win over Cheltenham Town in the FA Cup on Saturday.
Kick-off at the Lamb is 7.45pm and ATFC Supporters Association transport departs at 5.30pm. Seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401.
