FA Trophy, second round
Weymouth v Alfreton Town
At the Bob Lucas Stadium
Kick-Off: 3pm

by Tom Lawler

ALFRETON Town turn their attention towards the FA Carlsberg Trophy second round as they face Southern League Premier Division side Weymouth at the Bob Lucas Stadium.
The Reds comfortably beat fellow league rivals Southport 4-0 at home in their first round tie with their weekend's opponents 2-1 winners over Chippenham Town.
Nicky Law will have a full-strength squad for this cup tie with the exception of on loan goalkeeper Joe Day who misses out with a groin injury picked up against Grimsby Town last Saturday.
Law may look into the possibility of re-calling goalkeeper Dan Lowson from Ilkeston who has a 24 hour call back.
Alfreton have been in good form recently picking up vital points as they bid to climb out of the relegation-zone in the Blue Square Bet Premier Division.
The Reds have picked up eight points from the last possible 15 in the league but they will be looking to bounce back with a cup run after their 5-2 home defeat to Grimsby Town.
In contrast, Weymouth have accrued 10 points from 15, and are currently sitting 12th in the Southern Premier, 37 positions below the Reds in the football pyramid.
This fixture will be the furthest south Alfreton Town travel in their history as they face a 480-mile journey and five hour coach trip to face the Terras.
There are no players that will feature in this game that have played for both clubs, but the Reds will have to pay extra attention to Weymouth striker Warren Byerley who has scored 20 goals this season.
Although Law's main priority this season is to keep the Reds up in the Blue Square Premier, a place in the last 16 of the FA Trophy would see the club receive £6,000 in prize money.
