WELCOME RETURN TO HOME FOR REDS

WELCOME RETURN TO HOME FOR REDS

Tuesday Oct 29, 2013

AFTER three successive away games, Alfreton Town make a welcome return to home soil on Saturday for the first time since October 8 when they entertain in-form FC Halifax Town.
The last home outing resulted in a first league defeat of the season at the Impact Arena of the when Chester triumphed 1-0.
However, Nicky Law's side will go into this weekend's fixture in fine fettle after recording back-to-back victories in their last two games, both away, one in the league and one in the FA Cup which has also yielded the bonus of £12,500 prize money.
The FA Cup success came in a 3-1 win at North Ferriby United last Saturday where the Reds came from a goal behind to triumph thanks to goals from Jake Speight - who scored for the second successive game - Job Ayo Akinde and John McGrath.
This Saturday sees a first ever league game between Alfreton and Halifax and boss Law will be keen to see his side return to winning ways on home turf, especially as, like Alfreton, the West Yorkshire side have also suffered a bad bout of travel sickness away from home, picking up just two out of 21 points on offer so far.
However, Halifax arrive unbeaten in their last three league outings and carry the league's second highest scorer, Lee Gregory, in their ranks so an intriguing game is in prospect.
Saturday's game sees segregation in place and visiting Halifax supporters are requested to enter the stadium via the Alma Street turnstiles only. Kick-off is 3pm.
FA Cup
There is no midweek game next week but the Reds will be back on the road again a week on Saturday (Nov. 9) to contest an FA Cup first round proper tie at Skrill Premier Division rivals Wrexham.
It is a carbon copy of last year's first round tie which the Reds won 4-2 at the Racecourse Ground and Alfreton will be buoyed by their good overall record in North Wales as they aim for a place in the second round proper of the World's best cup competition for a second successive season.
Transport
ATFC Supporters' Association transport to Wrexham departs at 9.45am and seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe who has stressed the importance of fans wishing to travel booking their seats early to avoid missing out and to also give the association the chance of booking a second coach if necessary. Mark can be contacted on 07857 558401.
Replay
Should a replay with Wrexham be necessary, this would take place on Tuesday, November 19th with a 7.45pm kick-off at the Impact Arena which would also mean the scheduled away league game at Lincoln City would have to be rearranged.
New date
Alfreton's success in the FA Cup last weekend means the scheduled trip to play Nuneaton Town in the league on the same date as the FA Cup first round has now been rearranged for Tuesday, November 26, 7.45pm.
