Following the postponed New Year's Day home game against Lincoln City, Alfreton Town will belatedly kick-off 2015 with a Vanarama Conference away game at Torquay United on Sunday.

For a first ever trip to Torquay's Plainmoor ground, Reds manager Nicky Law will be buoyed by the double boost of having winger John Johnston signing an eighteen-month contract and goalkeeper George Willis extending his loan spell for a second month from Sheffield United.
Law will also have the services of striker Massiah McDonald after a proposed loan move to Vanarama Conference North club Brackley Town was called off by the Reds.
Boss Law has no new injury worries and no suspensions to contend with as he looks for his side to record a first league win in three outings.
The Reds also have the chance to record a second league 'double' of the campaign having already defeated the Gulls 4-2 in a rousing game at the Impact Arena in front of the live BT Sport cameras back on October 11th.

Both sides will be hoping to record a first victory of the year but Torquay will be looking for a first league win in five games and they come into the game in ninth place in the table having slipped away from the play-off places somewhat of late.

However, another tough test is in prospect for relegation-fighting Alfreton with Torquay having lost just three times in the league on home soil, drawing four and winning seven.

In their last outing, Torquay were denied victory on New Year's Day in a 1-1 draw at Bristol Rovers by a late Matty Taylor penalty, an incident which saw United's Angus MacDonald sent off.

Torquay United manager Chris Hargreaves is certainly looking for his side to exact revenge for the defeat in Derbyshire. He commented on the club's official website : "It’s a game we’ve got to look to win and there will be no holding back. We’ve got to grab these games by the throat."

Kick-off at the Launa Windows Stadium is 3pm.

ATFC Supporters’ Association transport for the game at Torquay departs at 7am.
