THE LAST WORD: LAW LAMENTS POOR GOALS
Saturday Feb 23, 2013
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law was left lamenting more poor goals conceded as he reflected on the 3-1 league defeat at Kiddedrminster Harriers on Saturday.
He said: "I'm disappointed - there wasn't a lot between them. The first goal was a poor one to give away, we haven't dealt with it at centre-half but the game's then settled down and we've got back in it at 1-1.
"Then we've given another poor goal away and there's not a lot in it, but then Phil Barnes is injured and can't come off his line and he probably comes and takes that [the third goal] if he's not injured - then we're 3-1 down - game over and a mountain to climb.
"We came out second half without a goalie and worked them and there wasn't a lot between the two teams second half, and if we possibly could have got another goal it changes the game - but we're never going to know that now.
"Kidderminster have been on a great run but they haven't had to do much to win that game today - we've given them that game today. You take the soft goals out of that game and there ain't a great deal between the two teams, but one team's sat second now and the other team's having to look over its shoulder at the other end of the table."
