NEW YEAR'S DAY, JANUARY 1st, 2012, 3pm

Sunday, January 1st, 2012
Blue Square Bet Premier Division
Tamworth v Alfreton Town
Kick-off: 3pm.

FOR the first fixture of 2012, Alfreton Town are in Blue Square Bet Premier Division action when they travel to Tamworth for the return festive season fixture in the hope of making it a very happy start to the New Year with a victory which would ring up a first league double of the season.
Manager Nicky Law has an almost fully fit squad with no suspension worries and just Leigh Franks out through injury as he continues his recuperation from a hamstring strain. Indeed, Nicky's only decision is whether to change a winning side.
If it can be achieved, a well overdue first away win in the league since August Bank Holiday Monday, allied to other results, could lift the Reds out of the bottom four but Tamworth will very definitely be a wounded animal after their 5-2 defeat at the Impact Arena on Boxing Day and a far tougher game is in prospect despite the game coming just six days before Marcus Law's side's massive FA Cup third round tie at Everton on Saturday, January 7.
The Tamworth boss has also added a couple of new faces to freshen his squad this week with striker Callum Wilson, 19, joining The Lambs on a month`s loan from npower Championship side Coventry City, and midfield player Ches Isaac, also 19, on loan from npower Championship side Watford until the end of January.
The Boxing Day defeat cost Tamworth one place in the table as they slipped to 15th and a glance at the statistics shows where their strength lies this season in that 21 points out of a total of 33 from 24 games have been picked up at The Lamb.
Tamworth have only lost twice on home soil in 11 games, 1-0 to Forest Green Rovers and 3-1 to Luton Town in their last home outing for points on Decembver 17th.
The Lambs have shared the points at home with AFC Telford United (2-2), Stockport County (1-1) and Kettering Town (2-2).
Some impressive wins are included in their home successes with victories recorded over Ebbsfleet United (1-0), Darlington (1-0), York City (2-1), Lincoln City (4-0), Hayes & Yeading United (2-1) and Braintree Town (1-0).
The most telling sign of how tough it will be to glean any points reward from the game is that Tamworth have only conceded 11 goals at home with four clean sheets and only one blank day where they have not scored which was back on September 20th in the Forest Green defeat.
The Tamworth side which faced the Reds on Boxing Day was: Hedge, Tait, Habergham, Courtney, Kanyuka, St Aimie, Thomas (Gudger 74), McDonald, Patterson (Shariff 59), Barrow , Reynolds (Mills h/t).
Substitutes not used: Collister, Christie.
