Alfreton Town fell to their first defeat in five league games as they went down 2-1 away at Southport.
A goalless first half saw chances for both sides, with Job Ayo Akinde through on goal as early as the second minute before being denied by a last-ditch sliding tackle and Osayamen Osawe looking strong for the home side.
The Reds took the lead just 3 minutes after the restart. Paul Clayton flicked on a corner toward goal where AKINDE was waiting to turn the ball home in front of the 40 travelling Alfreton fans.
Southport pressed and could have equalised when Jamie Milligan's effort struck the bar on 59 minutes, but it wasn't long before the Port got back into the game.
David Fitzpatrick's shot from the left edge of the area hit a boot just in front of goal and that deflected the ball past Ross Atkins, it was initially thought Osawe had tapped it in but it was given as a Nick Fenton own goal.
The Reds tried to press through Clayton and Akinde but on 80 minutes Southport had the game won. Aaron Chalmers put a neat ball into the area and Alfreton failed to deal with it effectively, allowing Osawe to head in from close range.
