SIGNINGS AT THE DOUBLE FOR REDS
Friday Jun 17, 2011
ALFRETON Town have announced their second and third signings of summer with the capture of striker Chris Senior and goalkeeper Dan Lowson.
Senior, 29, (pictured) has joined the Reds after being released by Darlington in May while Lowson, 23, was a free agent after being part of the Ilkeston Town squad which was left without a club in the early part of last season and then seeing out the campaign at Blyth Spartans.
Senior's most recent claim to fame is that he scored the winning goal for Darlington in their 1-0 win over Mansfield Town in last season's FA Trophy final at Wembley.
A regular goalscorer wherever he has been, Chris has plenty of experience at Blue Square Premier Division level having joined the Quakers last summer from Altrincham where he had three-and-a-half seasons with the Robins. Prior to that he had been with FC Halifax Town for two seasons and Scarborough FC for two campaigns before that.
North Shields-born Lowson has previously been described as a quality goalkeeper and excellent shot stopper. He earned high praise during his stint with Ilkeston Town with a string of consistently good performances in Blue Square Bet North before the club disappeared. He is a former England Schoolboy trialist who has also played for Gretna and Newcastle Blue Star.
The pair become the second and third new faces at the Impact Arena following the earlier capture of central defender Greg Young.
