SIGNING IMMINENT AHEAD OF WELLING GAME
Wednesday Jan 14, 2015
Alfreton Town can now concentrate solely on league survival after a 3-1 home defeat by Matlock Town ended their interest in the Derbyshire Senior Cup on Tuesday evening.
It was a result which means Alfreton are now out of all cup competitions this season and focus will be total for the remaining eighteen Vanarama Conference games.
However, the survival bid looks set to receive a boost with the a signing imminent ahead of this Saturday’s hugely important trip to Kent to face Welling United.
Manager Nicky Law should also receive another fillip for the weekend’s game with midfield man Dan Bradley expected to be available again after recovering from a slight thigh strain which has kept him out of the past two games.
It is the first meeting of the season between the sides and a crucial one as Welling sit two places outside of the relegation places, nine points ahead of Alfreton but having played two games more.
ATFC Supporters’ Association transport to the Welling United fixture departs at 8.45am and seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857558401.
Meanwhile, the recently announced date for the rearranged home league game against Dartford has seen another change. The fixture was postponed on December 28 due to a snowbound Impact Arena playing surface and had been moved to February 10 but following correspondence from the Vanarama Conference, the fixture has now been rearranged for February 24 with a 7.45pm kick-off.
