Reds release four players
Wednesday May 18, 2011
ALFRETON Town have released four players from last season's title-winning squad.
Central defenders Darren Stride and Paul Lister and midfield players Chris Hall and Ian Ross have all been thanked for their services at the Impact Arena as manager Nicky Law begins planning for life in the Blue Square Bet Premier Division in earnest.
Also departing from last season's successful squad are striker Daryl Clare and Aden Flint whose loan spells ended at the conclusion of the campaign and they have returned to their parent clubs Cambridge United and Swindon Town respectively.
With Alfreton building towards their ultimate aim of a totally full-time squad over the next three years though, Law still has the vast majority of last season's squad which is a terrific platform to build on.
And with the club looking to stabilise themselves at the next level, the next stage is well under way with the club deep in negotiations with the retained players with a view to extending current contracts to beyond the 2011/12 season.
It is understood that Ian Ross, and Laurie Wilson who was non-contract at Alfreton last season, have both agreed to join Blue Square Bet North side Harrogate Town.
