NEW SIGNINGS FIVE AND SIX
Alfreton Town began pre-season training on Tuesday having taken their total of new signings so far this summer to six by bringing in two central defenders on the first day of the new transfer window.
Both players had already agreed pre-contract terms and the club are delighted to have concluded yet more impressive business as Alfreton plan ahead for a fourth successive season in the Conference Premier Division.
Last season's Hereford United captain Luke Graham has penned a two-year contract with the Reds whilst Jordan Keane has moved to the Impact Arena after being released by Premiership club Stoke City where he has served the last three years.
Graham, 28, has huge experience at Conference level but began his career with Northampton Town's youth system before moving on to several clubs on loan. He spent time with Forest Green Rovers and Kettering Town as well as Mansfield Town, York City, Luton Town on loan before rejoining Forest Green in 2011/12 and then going on to Hereford United where he made 85 appearances over the past two seasons scoring three times.
In his early years, Graham, who is 6'2'' tall, represented both the Republic of Ireland under-18 team and the Welsh under-19 side.
Standing 6'3'' tall, Nottingham-born Keane, 20, has signed on a one-year contract and is described as a ball-playing centre back with an aggressive streak who has spent the past three seasons with Stoke City, captaining their under-21 side before being released this summer.
Primarily a central defender, he can also play right-back and central midfield and he already knows the Conference level having spent the last five months of last season on loan with Tamworth where he made 28 appearances.
Prior to his time with the Potters, he was with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Derby County under-18s sides.
With the pre-season fixtures just around the corner, Alfreton Town will announce their pre-season friendly admission prices next week
