Preview: Alfreton Town v AFC Telford United

Friday Nov 2, 2018

Alfreton Town return to the Impact Arena; after back to back away league games, for league duty as we welcome AFC Telford United in the National League North, kick off is 3pm.

After Tuesday night's 1-1 draw at a revitalised FC United, the Reds will be looking to get back on the winning trail again after at least ending the losing run in a difficult game at Broadhurst Park.

After a dominant first half display from FC United which saw Sam Ramsbottom make at least three crucial saves, Alfreton crucially stayed in the contest and fought back to equalise through James Clifton's low strike on 88 minutes.

The Reds dug in and looked far better in the second half but questions will be asked over Alfreton's first half display which saw FC dictate and control the proceedings. Billy Heath will be looking for a strong start to the contest tomorrow as we look for our first league win since a 1-0 win at Darlington in September.

The point, however, will give us much needed confidence with the losing run coming to an end. The result will also be a potential building block for us to kick on again in the league and climb the table so tomorrow presents a crucial point in the season for the Reds.

Alfreton head into the contest on the back of a win-less six game run in the league (D1, L5). We have lost our last two home league games (Guiseley and Bradford PA) but have won our most recent home outing 4-0, which came against St Neots in the FA Cup.

The Bucks arrive in 8th place in the league table, only goal difference keeps them out of the play-off positions in whats been a solid start to the season for Telford.

But Telford have lost their last four away games in all competitions and haven't registered an away win in the league since August at Spennymoor, in a 3-2 success.
