O'NEILL: NOT GOOD ENOUGH
Sunday Aug 31, 2014
After watching Alfreton Town slump to a sixth successive defeat with a 2-0 reverse at the hands of Braintree Town at the Impact Arena on Saturday, Reds stand-in manager Russ O'Neill exclaimed that the performance overall had not been good enough.
He reflected: “I don’t really feel hard done by the result.
“If I am honest, the Grimsby one (display) was a horrible performance all round and we had to put that to the back of us.
“Our previous two performances before that gave us a lot of encouragement. The Forest Green and the Wrexham one, and then obviously (came) the Grimsby one.
“We have had a lot to say this week. And I have said to the players that all the talking will finish and we will find out at quarter to five whether it’s been a positive week or not and a good reaction to that.
“The 2-0 (result) shows that we have not had a good reaction to it. I am not pleased."It was a good performance in the first half, but second half we have gone out and stepped off the gas a little bit, we have brought them on. We have had a throw-in and a corner to defend and unfortunately we have not dealt with it, so it is not a case of much improvement, unlucky, it is a case of not good enough.”
