NICKY LAW REACTION TO EASTLEIGH DEFEAT
Sunday Apr 12, 2015
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law was left to rue a day to forget which culminated in a 3-1 defeat at Eastleigh and leaves his side facing a real scrap against relegation in the final two games of the season.
The pre-match preparations were hindered by the bus breaking down en route to the game and it was a delay which resulted in a 90 minute wait at the services for replacement transport.
Law refused to use the late arrival as an excuse but felt it may have played some part.
He reflected: “Without making excuses, we knew the importance of the game and then to get there around 3pm wasn’t ideal.
“Waiting an hour-and-a-half in the services, getting changed on the bus, getting strappings and rubs on the bus is far from ideal, and whether it affected the players, I don’t know, but it was not brilliant preparation for such a big game.
“It’s fair to say that in the first half we never got started. We were a bit better in the second half and at 2-1 behind I felt we had a chance of getting back in it.
“But then Bradley Wood picks up a needless sending off and our chance went before they got a fortuitous third.
“Where we are as a club, you need everyone and it was disappointing to lose him in that way to say the least.
“We probably didn’t deserve anything from the game if I am honest and now we find ourselves in the position we are in.”
