NICKY LAW'S THOUGHTS ON VICTORY AT MACCLESFIELD
Monday Oct 8, 2012
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law explained his feelings about his side's superb 2-1 win at Macclesfield Town. In an interview with BBC Radio Derby, the Reds boss commented:
"I thought the win was well deserved - we got off to a dream start and then I think we controlled the game.
"I was slightly disappointed in their goal - just a long hopeful ball forward and we've let the ball bounce in our box and it was a bit of a scramble and the referee's given the penalty.
"First reaction is that I'd no real argument with it but I didn't get a great look at it - but you can't let the ball bounce there. "But we've reacted well again - we've come up against a big side, a big club - you've only got to look at the size of the squad and the quality of the bench to see what you're competing against - and it's credit to our players again, who have worked hard and fought hard."
"When we play at that tempo we are a match for anybody.
"Dan Bradley gave us a great start, we pushed and pushed and were in control of the game.
"Every time we got the ball and got down the sides of them we looked like we were going to get in.
"We'd watched the DVD of Macclesfield's game with Kidderminster last week - we came here today and tried to deny their full-backs getting forward by playing three up front - it was a positive move by us - it WAS 4-3-3 and not 4-5-1.
"As the crowd became frustrated they got louder and I thought the referee gave them a lot today that wasn't theirs, but that's something you have to deal with.
"The players have played some good stuff and shown great battling qualities."
