NEW FULL-TIME COMMERCIAL MANAGER APPOINTED
Tuesday Jul 26, 2011
ALFRETON Town have appointed local businessman Steve Elliott (pictured) as the club's new full-time commercial manager.
Somercotes man Steve, 55, has a wealth of business experience having been with Archway Interiors since it's foundation in 1981 but he has also followed Alfreton's fortunes over the same period.
He has many strong sporting links throughout the local community with the company having given sponsorship help to several clubs in the area down the years including ADASC, Selston, Archway '84, South Normanton Athletic and Alfreton Town.
He explained: "With around 30 years' experience as a local businessman, I would like to think I am a well-known face throughout the area. I am going to be working very hard in the local community, and I am looking forward to taking up the reins and giving it my best shot.
"I personally think the club unfortunately lost a bit of momentum since winning the title and it will be one of my tasks initially to forge some local links and to rekindle the awareness and magnitude of what the club has achieved through additional match day advertising."
Elliott is also looking to boost the awareness of the club through several different business and social ventures, one of which will be to attract more young fans through the gates.
He ended: "There is going to be some great football at the Impact Arena this season and what better way to get youngsters starting to watch football than on their doorstep at an affordable price.
"We will be having a number of different events happening throughout the calendar but I hope that anyone with any commercial or sponsorship leads will give me a shout. I welcome all offers of help because at the end of the day we are all singing from the same club hymnsheet."
One area of significant expansion will be the setting up of an appointed retail outlet within the town centre in the not too distant future where fans will be able to purchase club merchandise, eg replica kits, etc during normal shopping hours.
Eventually, supporters will be able to purchase merchandise from either the club shop, in the town and online.
Any local businesses who would like to help support the Reds in this historic first ever season in the Blue Square Bet Premier Division can contact Steve on 07980 871258 or email him at email@example.com
As the pre-season preparations continue apace, Alfreton face steel city opposition twice in the space of five days with Sheffield United visiting the Impact Arena on Wednesday (7.45pm) before Sheffield Wednesday make the short trip down the M1 on Sunday (2pm).
The Reds are away to Matlock Town next Wednesday evening. Kick-off is 7.45pm.
Supporters should note that the deadline for purchasing season tickets for the 2011/12 campaign is looming fast. Tickets can be purchased up until Friday, August 12 by contacting Lisa Towerzey on 01159 392090 extension 107.
