Moyses: 'The lads stuck to the plan, we were fantastic'

Wednesday Jan 24, 2018

The Boss made it two wins from two after a gritty 1-0 win at Blyth on Tuesday night.

Reds Boss Chris Moyses gives his reflection after last night's 1-0 win at Blyth Spartans and looks ahead to the visit to Gainsborough Trinity on Saturday.

It was the Reds second win in a row since Moyses took charge, with the 1-0 success seeing the Reds take their chance and defend superbly throughout the game. Alfreton soaked up large amounts of pressure coupled with vocal home support to secure back to back wins under Moyses.

The Boss said:

"It was a great result for us last night, we knew coming there about how they played, how they operated within the midfield. We were aware that they liked to dominate the ball and get players in behind and we made sure we set ourselves up to challenge that and make it difficult for them."

"The lads worked so hard throughout the game, we made sure we negated them, stopped them from gaining any serious clear cut chances on us. We were organised and compact throughout. The lads were magnificent yet again, the lads stuck to the plan, we were fantastic and we came away with the points."

On chances created and the goal from Brendon Daniels:

"I thought despite the large amounts of pressure we soaked up in the second half especially, we looked dangerous. The first half we had chances of our own and we moved it well to get into those areas. Sharpy has come close and the goal was quality from us, great ball into the box and Brendon finishes it well."

"Thats what we have within the midfield, they will get goals and I was pleased that in the second half we still carried a threat despite dropping deep."

On consistency:

"Every member of the squad has been brilliant, we have come here looking to change things around and the lads know the way we all want to play, the way we want to work. We work hard as a team and credit to the lads for working so hard and when you do, you get the rewards."

"We move onto the next game now, it's been a great start for us and we all want to keep it going. I was delighted for the fans last night who travelled such a long way and I was pleased we could give them a result, our focus is the next game and the lads want to keep it going."

On the visit to Gainsborough on Saturday:

"It will be a tough game, we will give them respect of course. They are in a battle down the bottom and they will be desperate to gain the points."

"However we know we have a job to do, we will prepare well and aim to build on our performances from last night and Saturday and aim to keep it going."
