The boss gives his verdict on the 4-3 defeat at Harrogate and previews the visit to York on Saturday

Reds Boss Chris Moyses gives his verdict after the Reds lost 4-3 at Harrogate on Tuesday night and looks ahead to the visit to York City on Saturday.

Alfreton fought from 4-0 down at the CNG Stadium on Tuesday night after a poor first half performance, Chris Sharp reduced the deficit before half time before debutant Nyal Bell grabbed two in three minutes after the break to set up a tense rest of the game. James Baxendale was then denied with a stunning save as the Reds missed out on an incredible comeback.

Moyses said:

"It certainly was exciting for the spectator on Tuesday night but punishing for a manager! We started brightly in the first half and we could have gone 1-0 up and we missed a really good chance which changes the complexion of the game and to be honest we commit suicide; giving two goals away that we should never give away."

"I felt really sorry for Viktor, he had a great game and he worked hard, he rectified himself and he made some good and important saves, we were pleased with him. The third goal it's unlucky again, it comes off Marshy and it's fell for Knowles and all of a sudden we are three down."

"We needed to stop the tide and we only managed to do that before half time when Sharpy gets one back for us."

On the second half performance:

"We changed the shape in the second half and we have got such a great group of lads who have real belief about them who stuck to the task well. We had a sniff early doors in the second half and we grab a couple more back thanks to Nyal and we just miss out at the death thanks to a cracking save."

"Five goals against the top two teams and you dont get a point it's not good and it is frustrating as we have pushed the top two all the way."

On the contrast between the first and second half:

"We just need to stop giving teams head-starts haven't we and that's what we have done for the last three games now, it's a bit of naivety and might be a lack of concentration so there are things we can work on and like I keep saying we are a work in progress and we are making strides as most can see and most games we are improving and for 45 minutes on Tuesday we were excellent."

"I think if we had another ten minutes we would have equalised and the second half we were on the front foot, we dictated the attacking play but we needed to make sure we were alert at the other end. But we need to stop playing catch up in games and hit the front ourselves."

"We kept a clean sheet so to speak in that second half and I was really proud of the lads for that performance in the second half."

On how the Reds are making progress:

"I've said before we are a work in progress and we are working all the time, Nyal came on and he is mobile, great in the air and he gets two good goals. We were happy for him but we need to stop making stupid mistakes which costs us goals. We are getting there, it will take time but we are improving and it's great to be apart of it."

On the visit to York on Saturday:

"We dust ourselves down from Tuesday and it will be another difficult game for us, it's a difficult place to go but at least we can get al of these tough games out of the way and see where we are. But again like always we will head there with a plan and we will enjoy it as always, it will be tough but we have plenty of quality in us and the lads have great confidence and belief despite the last two results and we will look to pick up the points on Saturday."
