THE only goal of the game three minutes from time by Chris Senior swung victory Alfreton Town's way from a good contest with the Gladiators at the Reynolds Stadium on Wednesday night.

Nathan Jarman squared the ball in to Senior who stepped away from his marker and curled an eight-yard shot around home keeper Jon Kennedy and in-off the far post for his second goal in as many games.

There were six former Reds in the Matlock Town ranks - Michael Harcourt, Chris Bettney, TJ Nightingale, Ryan Mallon, Steve Warne and Kris Bowler.
And another familiar face to older Alfreton fans was match referee Matt Walsh. The popular midfield man made 344 appearances for the Reds, scoring 72 goals.

Attendance 316, Reds man of the match: Jamie Mullan.

The Reds complete their pre-season friendlies on Saturday when they visit Rainworth MW. Kick-off is 3pm.
