MANSFIELD TOWN v ALFRETON TOWN PREVIEW

MANSFIELD TOWN v ALFRETON TOWN PREVIEW

Tuesday Dec 25, 2012

BOXING DAY, 3PM - PLEASE NOTE THIS MATCH IS ALL TICKET

Alfreton Town face a Blue Square Bet Premier Division local derby at Mansfield Town on Boxing Day.

Reds supporters should note that this fixture IS AN ALL TICKET GAME and tickets can be purchased on Boxing Day from the Impact Arena between 11am and 1.30pm at the very latest.
Tickets are priced at £15 for adults and £12 for concessions.
There will be no admission for visiting supporters at the turnstiles on the day of the game.

Reds boss Nicky Law is without goalkeeper Jon Stewart and central midfield man Theo Streete who both sit the game out with one-match suspensions. Phil Barnes is set to return in goal and, with no injuries, there are plenty of options for the vacant midfield berth.

Law should have striker Ben Tomlinson available again after a minor foot injury ruled him out of the midweek home clash with Cambridge United and his return will be a welcome boost as the Reds go in search of a first victory in six games and a first home win in four games in all competitions.

Mansfield are currently eighth in the table and once again a tough game is in prospect with the Stags having a very good home record in the league so far this season. Paul Cox's side have won seven, drawn two and lost just once in their ten games for points at Field Mill.

Last season's away fixture against the Stags on October 22nd saw the Reds open up a 2-0 lead with goals from Anton Brown on 13 minutes and Paul Clayton on 21 before having both Anthony Wilson and Greg Young sent off.
The nine men fought bravely to the very end before going down 3-2 as the Stags pulled off what at one time looked to be an unlikely victory with three goals in the closing stages. Matt Green reduced the arrears on 75 minutes from the penalty spot, Lindon Meikle equalised on 86 minutes before former Red Andy Todd snatched the winner in the second minute of stoppage time.
The reverse fixture saw Mansfield win 6-3 at the Impact Arena on March 20th.

Kick-off at the One Call stadium Mill is 3pm.
