MACCLESFIELD TOWN 2, ALFRETON TOWN 0

Sunday Nov 23, 2014

Alfreton Town fell to a second successive Vanarama Conference defeat as a goal in each half consigned them to a 2-0 loss at Macclesfield Town on Saturday.

Despite debuts for goalkeeper Sam Johnson (pictured) and defender Cliff Byrne, the Reds had no answer to a fourteenth minute solo run and shot from Scott Barrow and an 85th minute strike from Waide Fairhurst who sealed a victory which took the Silkmen into the play off places.

The defeat means the Reds are still third from bottom of the table but are now five points from safety.
