LUTON TOWN v ALFRETON TOWN PREVIEW
Thursday Feb 27, 2014
SATURDAY, MARCH 1st, 3pm
by Matt Carter
Alfreton Town are likely to encounter their toughest test of the season to date on Saturday as they travel to Luton Town in the Skrill Conference Premier.
The home side look bound for the Football League, having opened up a fourteen point gap over second-placed Cambridge United - albeit having played a game more.
The Hatters are unbeaten in 24 games, a run going back to early September, further to that they have scored a stunning 17 goals in their last three league games - and not conceded.
Alfreton have already witnessed first-hand the host's threat, having gone down 5-0 in the reverse fixture at the Impact Arena. Nicky Law's side were also soundly beaten on their last visit to Luton, losing 3-0.
The Reds though do enter the contest in good form, with no defeats in their last four including an impressive victory at Cambridge on their most recent away day.
On another positive note, manager Nicky Law is able to call on the services of a fully fit squad, with the exception of long term absentee John McGrath.
Undoubtedly anything gained from the visit to Kenilworth Road will go down as bonus points, nevertheless Alfreton have been able to prove time and time again this season that are capable of upsetting the odds.
ATFC Supporters' Association transport to the Luton game departs at 9.30am and seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401.
