LINCOLN CITY 4, ALFRETON TOWN 1
Tuesday Jan 7, 2014
Playing a sixth game in eighteen days and a ninth in 31, Alfreton Town fell to their heaviest away defeat of the season on Tuesday evening.
The Reds were not at their best but were also left bemused by one or two strange decisions including what appeared a blatant penalty for a foul on Job Ayo Akinde being denied.
The hosts went ahead on eight minutes when Reds defender Darran Kempson diverted a Mitch Austin cross into his own net and Lincoln doubled their advantage on 21 minutes through Nick Wright.
Nick Fenton reduced the deficit on 55 minutes when he headed home a Tom Shaw corner but as the Reds pressed, they were caught on the break and Jon Nolan made it 3-1 with an 18 yarder on 80 minutes.
Delano Sam-Yorke headed a fourth for the Imps on 87.
Alfreton are without a game this Saturday and return to action next Thursday, January 16th, when they host Tamworth in Skrill Premier action.
Kick-off for this fixture is 7.45pm and the game is also being televised live on BT Sport.
