LAW: WE WERE BEATEN BY BETTER TEAM
Sunday Aug 25, 2013
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law had no complaints after seeing his side go down 3-1 at Grimsby Town on Saturday.
"We were disappointed with the result - we knew what we were going to get when we came here - they're a direct side and get the ball forward" he reflected.
"If I'm honest with you I think we've started okay - we had four, five, six attempts at goal and not hit the target - two Tom Shaw, one Dan Bradley, a couple Paul Clayton and John Akinde - we get something from one of them and it's a different game.
"The first goal we lost the first header then switched off with Hearn and he's scored and then you're up against it, but we regrouped and still had chances but we weren't a potent enough force today.
"I think we got lost in the middle of the pitch - (Craig) Disley's dominated that area today for them and we didn't cope with him - (but) even late in the game Alastair Taylor's come on and with another touch rolls it in - 3-2 who knows ?
"I thought that we could get at them and we proved that in the first 20 minutes - they were very edgy at the back and struggled with the direct ball - but we didn't do that enough and I think, no complaints today, we've been beaten by a better team."
