LAW: WE BEAT A DECENT TEAM

LAW: WE BEAT A DECENT TEAM

Sunday Sep 13, 2015

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law praised his side for a strong second half performance which proved to be the foundation for a 4-0 thrashing of Hednesford Town at the Impact Arena on Saturday.

"We started the game as we wanted to and for ten/twelve minutes we dominated then for some reason we started having too many touches, playing too many square and backward balls" reflected the Reds manager.

"To be fair to them (Hednesford), they punished us for a bit. They were probably the better team in the second half of the first half.

"We spoke about it at half time that we needed to go out and impose ourselves on them because that's when we are at our best, and I thought we came out second half and did that.

"I thought we were comfortable today, the game could have been out of sight early doors. We have beat a decent team.

"All we have missed is goals and we have shown that today. Jordan Robertson has come in and given us another dimension, you can see he has got quality way, way above this level.

"His appreciation of space is good and hopefully he can now come on and take us on and get us the goals we need because that's all that has been missing.

"Credit to the other players as well. Jordan has come in and it's not just a one-man show. I think what he has done is enabled the rest to be better. As soon as we get the penalty, he wants the ball, he is a goalscorer.

"If we can keep him fit, even get him fit first, I think he will be a big player for us, but I thought there were a lot of good performances for us today.

"Tom Allan at the back was immense, Sam Berry coming in (for the injured Todd Jordan) did really, really well. I thought the midfield three did well second half, the whole team did better second half.

"We have just got to make sure we do that from the start and maintain it" ended Law.
