LAW: VICTORY SETS THE BENCH MARK

LAW: VICTORY SETS THE BENCH MARK

Wednesday Mar 7, 2012

ALFRETON Town manager Nicky Law said the only criticism he had of his side after the goal feast on Tuesday was that they did not score enough!
He reflected: "This was a great all round performance and they [Stockport] could not live with it. It is hard to be critical after that performance, but without being clever, or disrespectful to Stockport, it could and should have been double figures. Without a word of a lie, we could have had twelve.
"The players have now set the bench mark for the rest of the season. Like I have said before, it is all about work rate and desire and working harder than the opposition and we did that straight from the kick-off.
"But, if we had played with that work rate and endeavour throughout the season, we would not be in the position we are in.
"Before last Saturday's game [home to Telford] we asked for a marked improvement from the Fleetwood game. We got it and we were by far the best team and the only thing missing was goals.
"Tuesday night was something else. When the chances came, we took them. It just shows when you put the ball in the net what you can do."
