LAW: THERE ARE NO EXCUSES

LAW: THERE ARE NO EXCUSES

Sunday Dec 8, 2013

Alfreton boss Nicky Law made no excuses for his side after the 5-0 home defeat against Luton Town.
"I thought we started well for ten minutes and then we came up against a side who were good everywhere you need to be and we were poor where you don't need to be" reflected the Reds manager.
"They were strong up the middle of the pitch. McNulty holds it all together at the back, the two central midfield players had too much power and pace for us and Andre Gray and Benson, we couldn't handle them.
"You have to hold your hands up. The top and bottom of it was that they were a far better side than we are, they are a very, very good side.
"They are the best we have seen this year, they are the best we have come up against by a long, long way.
"Fair play to them, we have no complaints whatsoever, we have been absolutely given a real, real lesson.
"The game nowadays is about power and pace, athleticism and they have exposed us. We were lacking athleticism and energy in key areas and we got dominated.
"No excuses. To be fair they have probably took their foot off the pedal a little bit at 4-0 but we have come out second half and salvaged a little bit of pride.
"If I am honest, last three games I have been telling the players that I don't think our energy levels have been good enough, I don't think we have competed well enough. At Hyde we got away with it, we came unstuck against Nuneaton two games. Nuneaton are not in the calibre of that (Luton) but they still beat us comfortably which is a concern.
"To be without Bradley, Law and Fenton, we can't do that. It is hard for us to be at this level and to be pulling rabbits out of the hat every week which we do to win games of football. For the same sixteen players to do that over 46 games is nigh on an impossibility. We looked like we have got a lot of tired players, probably more the senior ones, that just makes common sense, then you have seen the complete opposite, the haves and the don't haves.
"You look at Luton who have got a load of fresh players, they have got loads of ability and their energy levels are good. They were on a different planet to us."
