LAW URGES SIDE TO REPEAT FORM
Wednesday Oct 15, 2014
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law is urging his side to try to repeat the form which enabled them to beat high-flying Torquay United 4-2 last Saturday.
The Reds head to the Swansway Stadium home of Chester FC on Saturday and Law admits he would readily take a repeat of the 1-0 win at the same venue last season.
In March this year, Alfreton shook off the blow of losing key defender Michael Wylde with a double leg fracture to go on and record a win thanks to a 66th minute Shaun Harrad penalty.
This time around, both teams are in the bottom third of the table and desperate for points.
“It’s another game, against another team that is not too far away from us, it’s maybe something of a six pointer if you like. It’s a game where both teams will fancy their chances of winning.
“It was a good performance against Torquay. We proved we are not a bottom four side, but we have not proved that often enough this season and we now have to be far more consistent over the last two thirds of the campaign.
“We have got to recapture the level of the Torquay display, and if we do, we will be ok” ended Law.
However, the Reds boss has been dealt another injury blow with left-sided defender Dan Gray set to miss the next two to three weeks due to a groin problem which forced him out of the Torquay game early last weekend.
Should Alfreton’s FA Cup fourth qualifying round tie with Lincoln City require a replay, it will be staged at Sincil Bank on Tuesday, October 28th with a 7.45pm kick-off.
ATFC Supporters’ Association transport to the game this Saturday at Chester departs at 9.45am and seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401.
