LAW UNHAPPY WITH FIRST HALF DISPLAY
Sunday Sep 25, 2011
In a post match interview with BBC Radio Derby, Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law explained how unhappy he was with the team's first half peformance.
"After that first half performance, I don't know for whatever reason as a group we can turn up here and think we are only playing Ebbsfleet.
"I can't see that because they have come here with more determination than us they wanted it more than us and they got what they deserved, a 2-0 lead. It was a shambolic by us, the defending for the goals and the level of performance.
"Believe me they [the players] found that out at half-time. I wouldn't be able to tell you what I said to them. I shouldn't be having to do that. I shouldn't be having to come in and say to an Alfreton Town team that we have to get our mindset right and up the tempo."
"But with all due respect, and I include myself in this, we are not big hitters in this league. We are not in the Conference North any more where we expected to win every week. We are the underdogs every week. Where on earth they got that mindset from today i do not know and it ain't the first time I have had to come in and to that this season."
"To be fair to them, at the end, after everything I have said, we have to be positive out of it and the positive is that we pulled a two-goal deficit back and got a point out of it. If decisions had gone our way today, I think there's a couple of penalties in there as well, but we have not got them and we can't make excuses about luck this and luck that, because at the end of the day luck is not about those two goals we have given away.
"We were not good enough today but we managed to salvage a point."
