LAW TALK GETS THE JOB DONE
Sunday Oct 27, 2013
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law felt his side responded well to a half-time lecture as the Reds finally ran out 3-1 winners at North Ferriby United on Saturday.
Asked what his half-time team talk had consisted of Mr Law told BBC Radio Derby "l wouldn't be able to repeat that on air !
He explained: "We got dragged into a scrappy battle - we've won the game, but again the referee's given us no help whatsoever. The things he booked our players for first half didn't count in the second half.
"We've listened all week to our ex-players texting, saying what they're going to do, so that works as a motivation.
"lt's a difficult place to come - l don't think they've done anything to the pitch since Tuesday when l came to see them [against Guiseley] - l can't blame them for that, but l wasn't pleased with our performance.
"l think we've had six players today that were well below par, but we've won the game.
"We could have been two up in the first five minutes, then conceded a poor goal from a second phase corner, then our finishing let us down and it turned into a scrap.
"We should have passed the ball like we did at Aldershot last week, but too many didn't do that and then the game gets anxious.
"The referee's given them everything - l'm complaining and l'm the winning manager, but that's something you have to deal with
"But we've come to a difficult place, we've got the prize money and we're in the draw."
