LAW REFLECTS ON FLEETWOOD GAME

Wednesday Oct 19, 2011

ALFRETON Town manager Nicky Law remains in a positive mood despite seeing his side ship seven goals in the last two games.
On Saturday they went down 3-0 at Cambridge United with a display which was possibly the worst of the season.
Tuesday evening saw a 4-1 home reverse against high-flying Fleetwood Town but Law insists there were several plus points from the game.
He said: "If I am honest, what I was looking for [against Fleetwood] was an improvement on what I was critical on, work rate, commitment and desire and I think I got that.
"Up to the sending off, and even up to half time we more than matched them.
"It was an error on Theo Streete's part which gave them a penalty and you are always going to struggle with ten men, especially against a team of Fleetwood's quality.
"At half time we spoke of the importance of the next goal, but an error from Anton Brown gave them the opportunity of the second goal and then you have a real uphill battle and that was the case.
"We just seem at the minute to compound our problems all the time with individual mistakes. The first goal and second one were avoidable but all four were down to defensive mistakes with people making the wrong decision. We lose possession and we make more wrong decisions in central defence and it has cost us again.
"That is happening every week and at this level you get punished."
This Saturday, the Reds make the short journey to take on Mansfield Town and Law is hoping the local derby will be a levelling factor.
He ended: "It is another tough game, local derby, away from home, they are doing well and we are not doing so well at the moment. But maybe in the derby game, form status will go out of the window."?
Law will be without left-back Connor Franklin who damaged ankle ligaments in the Fleetwood game. The injury is likely to keep him out for a minimum of three weeks.
Theo Streete will also miss the Stags game as he will be serving a one-match suspension following his sending off in midweek.
The Reds boss was hoping to bring in at least one player on loan to cover the injuries which are starting to pick up again.
On-loan Lee Stevenson is unable to play in the game due to an agreement with parent club Mansfield Town.
ATFC Supporters? Association transport will depart at 1.45pm and seats have been reduced to £6 for adults and £3 for concessions. Seats via Mark Thorpe on 01773 836251.
