AS DEFENSIVE ERRORS COST AGAIN
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law was once again left to rue individual errors after the 2-0 defeat at Gateshead on Tuesday evening.
“I am obviously disappointed with the result, but the performance I thought was a real positive one” reflected the Reds boss.
“We changed things around a bit and we had a good response. It was a much-improved display from Saturday.
“We started the game well, lost Jordan Keane to have stitches, and a five minute job turned into 20.
“We waited and waited to make a substitution, but whilst waiting we conceded the first goal which was unfortunate.
“We responded well, and then Bradley Wood has chested a ball back to the keeper instead of heading it, they get their second and then you have a mountain to climb again.
“But we stuck at it against a good side which was pleasing but unfortunately we could not get back in the game.
“Overall, we got a really good response but once again individual mistakes cost us and we end up having the same conversation again. It doesn’t help when you are playing good opposition and you are giving them goals and a leg up. You just can’t do it.
“It just seems that we get one bit right and then there is another chink in the armour shows up. We put that right and then another one comes along.
“As a group we know where we are falling down and we have got to put it right. No-one is cutting us apart, we are self inflicting and we have been saying it all season. We have just got to cut out the individual errors.
“It is fine lines, we are not a million miles away, we are really not, but we have got to try and get back to being a team that no-one likes to play.
“We have always been a team that has been difficult to get anything from during my seven years here and that is what we have to get back to” ended LaW.
