LAW PLEASED SO FAR AND EXPECTING MORE NEW FACES

Tuesday Jun 7, 2011

ALFRETON Town manager Nicky Law says he is happy with the way things are shaping with his squad for the club's first ever season in the Blue Square Bet Premier Division despite only making one signing so far.
The Reds boss signed former Altrincham and York City central defender Greg Young last week and is fully expecting to bring at least three more as yet unnamed players into the Impact Arena in the next fortnight.
He said: "We have retained 14 of last season's title-winning squad, brought in Greg Young and we have agreed in principle with three more player targets who we are confident will be joining us. But until everything is signed and sealed I would be a foolish man to announce who we are trying to bring in.
"At the minute the timing is wrong for us to announce who they are as one of our targets is tied up with a prior arrangement and two are on holiday.
"We are happy with the people who have said they will be coming to us and at the end of the day we are also keeping our options open in other avenues.
"We do have priorities and we have spoken to plenty of people, we will wait and see what happens.
"It is no good going mad and steaming in signing 20 players and thinking right, that's us sorted, because undoubtedly, something will then come along and we will be left thinking ‘I never thought this or that player would come up and then not be able to afford to do it'.
"You have to keep a bit of powder dry for such situations."
Manager Law admits there is a need for a few more players of the ilk of Greg Young.
Law added: "It is important that we get a couple or three players in who are familiar with the level we are now at. Greg fits that bill. He is an experienced player who has come to the club for the right reasons. His experience will be invaluable to the younger members of the squad."
