LAW PLANS LOOKING PROMISING

LAW PLANS LOOKING PROMISING

Tuesday May 7, 2013

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law's hopes of building from the nucleus of last season's team look promising.
Leading goalscorer Paul Clayton penned a new two-year contract with the Reds last week and the Alfreton boss has Dan Bradley, Darran Kempson, Danny Meadows and Ben Tomlinson all starting the second half of two-year deals penned with the club last summer.
Four players, all under the age of 24, have been offered new terms of re-engagement which means if any of Leigh Franks, Josh Law, Alastair Taylor or Ashley Worsfold leave the club for pastures new, the Reds would be entitled to compensation under the Bosman ruling.
Four players who finished the campaign on-loan at the Impact Arena - goalkeeper Jordan Pickford, defender Jordan Rose, and midfielders Steven Hewitt and Louie Soares have all returned to their parent clubs, although the latter has since been released by Grimsby Town.
That leaves Law with decisions to make over the rest of the squad and potential new faces but with at least one more regular of last season's team understood to be set to sign again, he already looks to have a good strong foundation on which to build for a third successive season in the Conference Premier Division.
