LAW NOT DOWNHEARTED
Saturday Aug 10, 2013
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law described himself as "disappointed but not downhearted" after the Dartford game.
He reflected: "One bit of misfortune in the first half. I thought we were in total control of the game. Credit to the lad, he's made a run and tried to turn and he got a bit of a ricochet off Chris Westwood. Maybe Bradley Wood then needs to come out and stop the shot.
"So, disappointed to concede the goal, but we came out in the second half, but we failed to work the keeper and we failed to hit the target. We're getting caught offside from diagonal balls and we're letting teams off the hook.
"But I still don't think there was a great deal between the two teams. Just the one goal and obviously we're disappointed to have come away from home, looked comfortable, create chances and not hit the target.
"We have created chances - that's the positive thing, but we haven't been able to convert them."
Asked about the new players Law replied "I thought Bradley Wood, Nick Fenton and Chris Westwood looked comfortable at the back, while John McGrath and Tom Shaw did well in midfield - it was a toss-up [which one to take off] when we changed it to 4-4-2 and went for it - we did create chances but failed to work the keeper."
