LAW LOOKING FOR A RETURN TO FORM

LAW LOOKING FOR A RETURN TO FORM

Wednesday Oct 2, 2013

Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law is looking for his side to respond to back-to-back away defeats suffered in the last week as they head into two successive home games at fortress Impact Arena.
The last home outing, a week last Saturday, saw them beat highly-fancied Barnet 3-1 to extend their excellent home form to five wins and a draw from six games on home turf so far.
However, they then let slip a one-goal lead to go down 2-1 at Southport last Tuesday and followed up with a 3-1 reverse at Braintree Town on Saturday.
But, with big-spending Forest Green Rovers at the Impact Arena on Saturday, and struggling Chester the next visitors next Tuesday, Law will be aiming for his side to get back to reproducing some of the football that had taken them up to third place in the table before the double away losses.
"I was a bit disappointed in the last two performances. For many reasons, we have not played at the same intensity as in the previous four games, not passed the ball as well and certainly not defended as well" said the Reds boss.
"We didn't keep the ball well enough and there was no momentum, but, these things happen and we have just got to ride them out and get back to doing what we were doing to such good effect before. There is certainly no panic" added the Reds boss.
Looking ahead to Saturday's game against a Forest Green side who have already beaten the Reds 3-1 at the New Lawn five weeks ago, Law admits it is going to be yet another difficult clash.
"It is going to be a tough game against a good footballing Rovers side who will give our unbeaten home record a very strong test" ended Law.
For the Forest Green game on Saturday, Law will have to wait for a late fitness check on central defender Nick Fenton who limped out of the Braintree game with a calf injury, Fenton being replaced by Chris Westwood who was returning from injury himself.
Next Tuesday, Chester will arrive in search of points for very different reasons as they sit second-from-bottom with just eight points from 36 so far.
The Forest Green game kicks-off at 3pm and the Chester fixture at 7.45pm
