LAW FEELS REDS WERE HARD DONE BY

ALL BEST EFFORTS CAME LATE ON
Reflecting on his side's opening day Vanarama National League North opener at Bradford Park Avenue which gained his side a first point of the season from a 2-2 draw, Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law felt all his side's best efforts came late in the game.
"We'd have taken a point before the game. l think we came back and got a deserved point. l think we showed them far too much respect for most parts of the game - and it was quite ironic how, when we ended up with nine men, all of a sudden then we're stopping the goalie rolling it out from a goal-kick and we pushed in and squeezed in and they were coming long and it suited us.
"It was a good point and a good lesson for a few of our lads is to know what is expected, the physicality side of it week in, week out at this level of football - it's different to the Conference Premier.
"Before they've had one shot at goal we could have been 3-0 up. l'm not saying we should have been but John Johnston's through and only got to roll the ball along the floor and the keeper don't get it, then he's put another one at a good height for the goalie
"They scored with their first shot, and from where l was sat that looked a poor goal to let in. We've let him come and run at us, no-one's come and confronted him and l think that set the pattern for the first hour.
"We maybe took a back step and looked a bit timid, but when we made changes that gave us a little more impetus - the players came on and made a difference and obviously we're pleased with that."
Asked if he had any complaints about the sending-offs during the game, Law felt his side were somewhat hard done by.
"Tom Allan's is a second yellow - and that's unfortunate. The linesman on the far side flagged for the foul [referring to Sam Berry's dismissal], the referee's made the decision to send him off, but from where l was it looked like Jason Paling was behind him [and covering] and l'll stand corrected, so that may be a little bit harsh .
"We won't know until we see the DVD" ended Law.
