LAW DISAPPOINTMENT AT NATURE OF DEFEAT
Sunday Sep 28, 2014
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law had some harsh words for his side after seeing the four-game unbeaten run come to an end in a disappointing 1-0 defeat at Dover Athletic.
"You have to lose at some stage, but it's the way we lost today - they were two poor teams and we were the worse of two poor teams" said Law.
"The goal we gave away was just absolutely ridiculous . You could see what Miller was going to do, it was left, left, left and we continued to let him come on his left side and fair play to him it was a good finish, but we were woeful.
"Looking at that they were two teams that are going to be down there at the end of the season - l'm not saying that we've been great in the last four because we have not, but for us to be at our best we've got to be at teams and today l probably had nine players that were below par.
Regarding Joe Ironside's miss, Law reflected: "Joe's got in there and made the wrong decision - he's one on one with the keeper and if he scores it's 1-0 and we're on top - but he misses. He's a young boy who'd been doing well and l think that affected him for the rest of the first half.
"We spoke about playing the game right, we came here for ten minutes and l thought we only had to put the ball in, but both sides were poor and in the second half we didn't affect the game.
"We're disappointed - it's one of the only trips that we come down overnight - the players were prepared, fed and bedded - there are no excuses today - we were woeful - my words before the game were not to underestimate Dover and we were nowhere near our level of performance."
