Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law was a disappointed man after seeing his side exit the FA Cup with a 3-1 first round defeat at Wrexham on Saturday.
He reflected: "We can't come anywhere and concede three goals - and that's what we did and it was a mountain to climb. Then, five or six of our players have not been at their best today. You can't come to places like this at this level and expect to win games like that.
"That said l think at 2-1 we're back in the game and at that point, just before they scored a third goal the ball's come in - it's hit the bar, dropping down and we've got three or four players just stood watching it, not reacting to it - if that goes in it's a different game.
"But the game's over then - they go up the other end and score - that's the finish of the game - but l've got no complaints - l think Wrexham were the better side and l'm very, very disappointed.
Asked if the late arrival had an effect Law replied: "The fact that we didn't get here until twenty past two l'm not going to use that as an excuse - no - we had a lot of possession today but gave the ball away too easily, made wrong decisions - they made better decisions than we made and we needed to put up more resistance.
"When the ball went forward today it came back too easily and when, seconds before the interval, one on one with the keeper and we lift the ball in the air for a 6'4" goalie to save easily - roll it on the floor and we come in evens.
"A few things today were disappointing, but we'll dust ourselves down and move on.
"Last week l thought we were good right from the front through to the back, but today l don't think that we were.
"ln the middle third of the pitch and the defending third they were better - we hadn't punished them in the final third - we've had the opportunity as they have us. l just think they were more clinical than us - they finished better - we've had ample chances but failed to get the shot off really."
Asked what he will be telling the lads for Tamworth on Tuesday and Braintree on Saturday, Law ended: "We're going to have to put up a better effort than that - it's disappointing when you know what we can do - there's certain areas of the team that you're looking for a spark and l don't think we got that today."
