LAW BLASTS LACK OF RUTHLESSNESS
Sunday Oct 5, 2014
Alfreton Town manager Nicky Law blasted his side's lack of ruthlessness after a 2-0 defeat at Aldershot Town on Saturday consigned them to a third straight defeat.
"We were toothless if l'm honest. We started the game well enough, got on top of them, then they worked their way back into the game" reflected the Reds boss.
"We never took our chances and, for me, just crumbled.
"Like l just said in there (the changing room after the game), and l'm saying nothing different, we ain't got enough characters - too many people just accept second best, too many people just accept a performance like that, and when you've got that you're in trouble.
"We've got to find some heart from somewhere, some belief, because that was just a mediocre, weak performance for me.
"We did not have enough fight, we were not ruthless enough.
"Look at that game - Joe lronside is four yards out with a volley - hits it straight at the keeper. Joe Ironside one on one with the keeper - doesn't get a shot in - Dan Bradley's header, well it was a header but what it ever ended up being l'll never know - the ball's knocked his head back l think!
"That's what l'm on about - being ruthless - as a professional sportsman you have to be ruthless and we haven't got enough of that in us.
"We've come away from home and been absolutely poor. l feel sorry for the supporters who made another great effort. They'd been down to Dover the other week, they've been down here today and they've got Gateshead on Tuesday.
"For me it wouldn't surprise me if they didn't turn up" ended the Reds manager.
