Thursday Aug 24, 2017

This coming Saturday the Reds make the difficult trip to Kidderminster for their latest Vanarama National League North game. The Harriers are one of the pre-season fovourites to make a promotion challenge but like Alfreton currently have only six points from five games.

Last season, March 11th saw us lose 3-0 at Aggborough with all the goals arriving in the first half from a McQuilkin penalty on 24 minutes, Truswell (28) and Waite (33).

The September game at the Impact Arena was an exciting affair. The Reds were 3-0 up at half time due to goals in the first minute from Craig Westcarr, a Tom Allan header on 12 minutes and Adam Priestley's first goal for the club on 37 minutes.

Kidderminster hit back in the second half reducing the deficit through Liam Truslove after 53 minutes, they then scored twice in the final six minutes of the game through Andre Brown and a second for Truswell to claim a point with a final 3-3 scoreline.

Last week Kiddy went down 3-0 at high flying Salford City. The turning point in the game occurred just before the break when former Red Joe Ironside had a penalty saved by the Salford keeper Max Crocombe. Salford introduced striker Jack Redshaw for the second half and he came up with the goods poaching a hat-trick to see Salford come out on top 3-0 .

Former Alfreton favourite Dan Bradley was also in the Harriers side having recently transferred from AFC Fylde. He had an influential first hald but was less effective after the break.

The Kidderminster side last Saturday was : Brandon Hall, Tyrone Williams, Joel Taylor, Ryan Crosdale, Liam Daly, Kennedy Digie, Manny Sonupe, James McQuilkin, Joe Ironside, Elton Ngwatala and Dan Bradley.

Subs : Andre Brown, Declan Weeks, Sam Austin, Cieron Keane, Jean-Michel Joachim

Prior to last weeks game at Salford City, Kidderminster had won two games 2-1 at FC United of Manchester and 2-0 at home to league newcomers Leamington. They had been beaten 1-0 twice at home to Chorley and at Nuneaton.

Alfreton head into the fixture off the back of a 1-0 home defeat to Southport last Saturday. The Reds have sealed wins over Blyth Spartans, 2-0, on the opening day of the season at the Impact and a 1-0 win over North Ferriby. The Reds other two defeats have come on the road; 3-1 at Boston and 4-1 at Darlington.
