GLOUCESTER CITY 2, ALFRETON TOWN 1

After playing their 15th game in 47 days, Alfreton Town now need just three points to be certain of clinching the Blue Square Bet North title despite falling to a second successive away defeat with a 2-1 reverse against Gloucester City on Saturday.
Two first half goals from Darren Edwards on 32 and 37 minutes, the second from the penalty spot edged the hosts through despite Liam Hearn pulling one back from in the second half.
Closest rivals AFC Telford United were held to a 1-1 draw at Hinckley United which means Alfreton are now seven points clear with four games to play while Telford have only three left and have a vastly inferior goal difference to Nicky Law's side who could lift the title with just two more points.
