Alfreton Town's hopes of lifting the Derbyshire Senior Cup for the first time in ten seasons ended in disappointment after a 2-0 semi-final defeat at Ilkeston FC on Tuesday evening.

The Reds had efforts from both Josh Law and Nathan Arnold strike the woodwork in the first half, but two goals by Aaron Hooton gave the home side something to hold on to and despite Alfreton having plenty of possession and attacks in the second half, they could not find a way through.

The attendance was 409.

The Robins go on to meet fellow Evostik Northern Premier League Premier Division rivals Matlock Town at Chesterfield FC's Proact Stadium on a date to be announced.

Alfreton Town will be looking to extend their unbeaten Blue Square Bet Premier Division run to six games when they travel to Braintree Town on Saturday.
Kick-off at Cressing Road is 3pm and ATFC Supporters' Association transport departs at 8.45am. Seats can be booked by contacting Mark Thorpe on 07857 558401.
