Alfreton Town had to settle for a point as they drew 1-1 at Hyde FC in a game which was marred for the Reds by two bad injuries to central defenders Ross Killock and Leigh Franks.
However, the point gained lifted Nicky Law's side up to 12th place in the Blue Square Bet Premier Division table, their highest ever league placing in the club's history.
The Reds took the lead on 39 minutes when man-of-the-match Leigh Franks headed his first ever goal for the club when he despatched josh Law's free kick but the advantage only lasted three minutes as Phil Jevons headed home from close range to finish a Chris Sedgwick corner.
Alfreton finished the game with ten men when Ross Killock received a horrific facial injury with the Reds having already used all three substitutes.
Both Killock and Franks were hospitalised, the former losing a tooth and having two more pushed back into his gum by an accidental collision with a stray elbow, whilst Franks went in with a suspected fractured ankle.
The Reds are back in action on Saturday when they take on Kidderminster Harriers in an FA Carlsberg Trophy first round tie at the Impact Arena (3pm).
Admission prices for this game have been reduced to £14 for adults and £10 for concessions but there is no Early Bird Matchday Ticket scheme in place for this fixture.
