HEARN SET TO RETURN AND BOOST REDS' TITLE BID

HEARN SET TO RETURN AND BOOST REDS' TITLE BID

Friday May 13, 2011

ALFRETON Town's Blue Square bet North title bid is set to receive a major boost with the return of leading scorer Liam Hearn from injury for the crucial run-in.

Hitman Hearn - who has 66 goals to his name since moving to the Impact Arena 30 months ago - has hit 21 goals so far this season, 19 of them in the league.
He has had to sit out the last four games due a minor hamstring injury picked up in the 3-2 defeat at Boston United a fortnight ago but is now fully recovered and ready to aid Alfreton's push for the title.
And with the prolific  Daryl Clare having extended his  loan spell with the Reds to the end of the season from Cambridge United, Alfreton, easily the top scorers in the league with 71 in 30 games so far, will be looking to blast their way to glory.
Paul Clayton has hit 16 in all competitions, Anthony Wilson has six and both are back in full flow whilst Nathan Arnold is the third highest scorer at the club with 12 so far.
But the goals have been coming from all over the park for Nicky Law's side typified by full back Josh Law netting both in the 2-0 home win which ended Solihull Moors' 18-game unbeaten run on Monday evening.
The win extended Alfreton's own revival run to three games unbeaten and seven points from nine since they suffered back to back defeats at Boston United and Droylsden.
Monday night's win took the Reds back to the top of the table, albeit on goal difference, for 24 hours until chief title rivals AFC Telford United drew 0-0 at Harrogate Town on Tuesday night.
Going into Wednesday evening's game at Corby Town, Alfreton were one point behind Telford with three games in hand.
The Reds have two more home games coming up to complete an intense spell of five games in 11 days.
This Saturday brings the chance of revenge for a 2-1 defeat at Droylsden when the Bloods visit the Impact Arena.
Next Tuesday sees the chance of another league double when Guiseley are the visitors, 7.45pm.
