GRIMSBY TOWN v ALFRETON TOWN PREVIEW
Sunday Aug 24, 2014
Alfreton Town's tough start to the season continues on August Bank Holiday Monday as the Reds travel to take on a Grimsby Town side who are unbeaten so far.
Stand-in manager Russ O'Neill will have to wait for late fitness checks on both Duane Courtney and Chris Smith before deciding on his starting line-up. But he will be without the services of central defender Luke Graham who is suspended for one game for his sending off for picking up two yellow cards against Wrexham on Saturday.
Four successive defeats has brought a worst ever start to a Conference campaign for Alfreton who sit bottom of the table and unfortunately Blundell Park holds no good memories for the Reds either who have lost all of their previous three league games there, 5-2, 4-2 and 3-1.
What a great time it would be to break that duck as Alfreton seek to get some points on the board at the fifth attempt.
Grimsby sit in eleventh place with six points from their opening four games. The first three were drawn but the fourth showed their huge potential when they went to in-form Gateshead and smashed them 6-1 on their own patch on Saturday.
