ALFRETON Town's excursion into this season's Derbyshire Senior Cup ended at the first hurdle with a 3-2 third round defeat at Gresley FC's Moat Ground on Tuesday evening.
On a wet and heavy surface, the home side went in front through Dean Oliver on 25 minutes but a skilful finish by Paul Clayton three minutes later tied the scores up before half time.
Levi Mackin put the Reds ahead on 61 minutes but a brace of goals from Royce Turville on 68 and 83 minutes carried the hosts to an odd-goal-in-five success.
Jamie Mullan was the Reds man of the match and the attendance was 147.
Alfreton Town are back in action on Saturday when they travel to face Stockport County in Blue Square Bet Premier Division action. Kick-off at Edgeley Park is 3pm and ATFCSA transport departs at from North Street at 10.15am.
